Monkey

Ever thought of replacing Monday with Monkey---it seems so appropriate! Going out to all my fellow primates, have an awesome Monkey and a fabulous rest of the week.

Burn Much?

The more someone tells me, “You absolutely HAVE to go to Burning Man, you’ll love it!” the more I don’t want to go. Being told what I will and will not love before I have had a chance to decide is my least favorite qualm. So I finally went. Yes it kicks ass and no, I did not HAVE to go, I chose to go. Although I haven’t gone in a few years I highly recommend it to any artistic survivalists.

Sparkles

I’ve always had an affinity for glitter, either you do or you don’t, there is rarely an in between. RazzleDazzle by Deborah Lippman a bit more reddish-pink than black&white:)

Fast swimmers have the advantage---sparking life within an egg simply based on speed.

Mercury

Found in Eqyptian tombs that date from 1500 BC, Alchemists thought of mercury as the First Matter from which all metals were formed. Also known as quicksilver or hydrargyrum (from “hydr-” water and “argyros” silver), it is the only metal that is liquid, as a chemical element it has the symbol Hg and the atomic number 80. The element was named after the Roman god Mercury, known for speed and mobility.

Farmhouse

Pulling off the dirt road and onto the gravelly driveway meant we’d arrived at Grama & Grampas. Past the horse corral there are giant trees to climb and inside there are bowls of candy to eat, an indescribable feeling of comfort washes over me. Maybe we could ride the tractor later, or uncover treasures in the barn? It’s ok with Grama, as long as we stay far away from the electric fence.

Begin

Livalect or lyaric is a created dialect of English in use among members of the Rastafari movement. Wordsound, derived from the Rastafari principle of “Word, Sound and Power”, has often been compared to West African concepts regarding a power of essence being encapsulated within the pronounced sound of a name or word. In Jamaican Patois irie means powerful and pleasing, excellent, highest, and to be at peace with your total state of being. Wishing everyone an IRIE 4/20 and an empowering Earth Day!

“Cause just like a tree planted by the river of water, That bringeth forth fruits in due season,
Every thing in life got its purpose, find its reason in every season, forever year.”

First Light

Dawn arrives in spite of Ego’s sleep. Insomniac or restless dreamer, time continues without compassion for the drama of the story. Another cycle begins anew, the Earth rotating regardless of each individual plight.

Creased

Light streams in, a moment at a time, until it reaches such a height in the sky it no longer seems to mind. Perfectly crisp or uniquely crumpled, dependent on the mood.

Seen as symbolic of the city’s influence and economy, skylines serve as a kind of fingerprint of a city, as no two skylines are alike.

Eggs

Potential of life wrapped with a thin calcification, placed on display for all rabbits to see. Farm fresh or factory funked, they will be shaken, dyed, glittered and thoroughly aestheticized, perhaps even filled with chocolate. Spring, rebirth, and zombies, I love Easter!

A natural perfectionist I had to work hard on loosening up my brushstroke and not being so tightly wound. Relaxing and enjoying the moment, I am reminded of my mOm and hOme leaving a feeling of calm, peace and A-U-M.

La Parrilla

Located on Av Yaxchilan 51 in Cancun Mexico, La Parilla was a daily favorite for us while on our honeymoon. Look---I’m drinking a cocktail with ice in it and bonus---I didn’t even get sick. Beer in a bottle is always a good choice for the faint of heart. I don’t know which was better, the server who could balance four giganta-daiquiris on their head, or the Mariachi Band that is so powerful the trumpet player has to stand 30 feet back to get the correct sound.

Bright Eyes

This is a shot out of my hospital window the morning after my son was born. A couple fresh feet of powder and subzero temperatures to welcome him into the world. What a sweet view to greet an infinitely sweeter baby.

Swirl if in Doubt

Sadness, anger, misunderstanding, frustration, tears, hurt, heartbreak, pain, crying, hearing, wishing, wanting, knowing...everything will be ok. Everything is ok right now. Let it out, scream at the top of your breath, breathe, relax, accept, release, grow.

Perspective Lines

Perspective (from Latin perspicere, to see through) is an approximate representation, on a flat surface, of an image as it is seen by the eye. The two most characteristic features of perspective are that objects are drawn: Smaller as their distance from the observer increases and Foreshortened: the size of an object’s dimensions along the line of sight are relatively shorter than dimensions across the line of sight.
